For the past 19 years, Gordon Sheaffer has been American history instructor at the James Madison Preparatory School in Tempe, Arizona.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in American history from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Arts degree from Duquesne University.

Before starting at JMPS, Mr. Sheaffer was a curator at the State Museum of Pennsylvania and an archivist for Allegheny County. He also worked in President James Buchanan’s home, Wheatland, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

He has been a living historian for more than 25 years, reenacting in Company D, 62nd Pennsylvania Volunteers.
